I was about to do a first impressions of these in ear headphones, but I have had them for over a week, and have had plenty of time to critique them. These earphones provide good sound, portability and fit all for a good price. They fit well; the inserts, the fins, the weighting, everything just fits comfortably and securely for running, resulting in complete confidence. I can easily use these at the gym and I don’t have to readjust my fit once.
In The Box
I bought this product, so I get original packaging. Firstly, the box is simple to open, and the earphones are nicely displayed inside, with some instruction manuals. Apart from that, there isn’t really much to say about the packaging.
You get 3 pairs of earhooks, which is really good of TaoTronics to include in the box, so they can fit many sizes of ears. You also get 3 pairs of earbuds as well. You also get a really small charging cable, which was quite frankly an inconvenience, as it’s an inch long.
As these are inear headphones, there is a lot to cover, so I am going to split it into general usage, and the sound quality.
My experience with the TT-BH16 was very good, to say the least. Pairing the device with my phone was very easy, and I had absolutely no problems with range, or the like. Turn them on, and they instantly connect with your bluetooth device. Range isn’t as important to me as with a bluetooth speaker, since most of the time, my phone will be in my pocket. Even still, I haven’t recorded any cut outs, which is great.
In regards to the battery, here is where I could have seen an improvement. They claim that you can get 7 hours, but in my testing, I got about 6 hours, which usually lasts me two days, or a really long listening session, but no more. If you are a heavy listener when doing activities, then you could consider other options that have a lengthier battery life.
The overall design is quite pleasing. With plastic as the main material, you shouldn’t be surprised due to the earbuds low cost. Although the earhooks are designed very well, and stay in my ears the whole time. The earphones block out a substantial amount more sound than Apple earphones, which I prefer, as when I am at the gym , I like to drown out the gym’s horrible taste in music. I would have liked for TaoTronics to include a clip to attach to a shirt, as the cable is a little too long for me, but that’s mainly down to preference.
All in all, I have been very impressed with with these Earbuds, and they have performed admirably well.
The sound of these earbuds is good for the price. There is notable bass, but not so much like the Sony XB line where it drowns out the mids and the highs. The earbuds get really loud without distorting, and the detail is there, but it slightly lacks in the crispness needed to make out the individual instruments.
Although, when looking at sound quality, you cannot judge for this price. If you are looking for audiophile quality, you will have to step up your prcing, where better drivers will be available. One thing to note, on the other hand is the soundstage. It is really impressive for a pair of earbuds for £25.
