Disclaimer: I was sent this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
For £14, I’ll be honest with and say i wasn’t expecting much from these pair of in ear headphones. But when I opened the box and saw the premium packaging, I was amazed to see that there was a nice case to carry the earphones in. The headphones themselves are premium, with a titanium grey finish making the headphones appear expensive, when they aren’t. The R9’s are sleek looking and modern, a nice shade of grey and very nicely designed. They have an inline control, for play, pause etc. The sound for the price is exceptional.
In the Box
Firstly, in the box you get a nice travel case, and my first impressions were good. You get a nice case with the headphones neatly wrapped up inside. The box has a nice appeal to it with an all black approach, which I like. There are some operating and compatibility instructions provided as well. The box is magnetic, which is also a nice touch.
Sound And Design
I’m going to cut to the chase as this what you have been curious about. How do they sound? The earphones bear in mind they cost £14, the sound is exceptionally good. They have crisp highs and mids, and have the bass has a punch to it. Nothing like what you get in the Sony XB line for example, but they still satisfy my music needs. However, the vocals can be a bit hollow at times, especially when listening to bass heavy genres like Rap/EDM. If you can get over this slight problem, the sound of the R9’s will do you good.
The design of the headphones are styled like the Apple EarPods, which I like as they aren’t obtrusively in your ear, so they can stay comfortable for longer periods of time. On the outside of the headphones they seem to be metal, as it’s cold to the touch. This is a plus since you know you will be able to use these for much longer than your average cheap earphones. The cabling of the headphones seems to be nylon and wrapped in plastic, even though they aren’t tangle free, they are nowhere near as bad as the Apple EarPods in comparison.
