Here is my unbiased review of the Turtle Beach XO One Headset. Costing £40, these could be considered as mid range. At this price, you are getting really good sound, and it comes with a detachable microphone. I really like this, since it means that with the slim profile the headset has, they can be used as normal headphones.
The headset does plug into your computer, but you cannot monitor the audio. So for those that plan to record audio with this headset, you may want to look elsewhere. However, it has XO One in the name, so you shouldn’t really be expecting to use it with a PC at all. The ear cushions are relatively comfortable, but may not be suitable for gaming sessions longer than 4 hours.
Underneath the headband, there are some more cushioning, to prevent discomfort. The headset can be adjusted to fit any head size. They have a very closed fit, and in my testing, doesn’t leak sound. The monitors swivel 90 degrees to be placed flat on a table. The build of the headphones is all out of plastic, but for £40, you can’t really expect a premium build. Overall for the comfort, I am pleased.
The XO One Headset doesn’t appear to be ‘rage-friendly’. So if you like to throw your headset at the wall, these seem a bit too fragile for that, since the build is mainly plastic. They are light, which like I said earlier, can easily go unnoticed as headphones in the public.
Sound quality for this price is more than exceptional. The bass is deep and you hear things clearly. I have played Forza Horizon using them and found that the car engines are deep and sound like a real car engine while the music is still clear. I also like to watch Netflix with them on, and you really can’t go wrong with the sound quality for under 40.
As this a Turtle Beach headset, it will be easy to find. You can get them from Amazon for £40/ $59 here:
The headset has product dimensions of 20 x 15 x 5 cm ; 299 g
