GranVela MechanicalEagle Z-77

This is possibly the best keyboard around for under 40. I had spent weeks looking across the internet (by Internet I mean Amazon) for a few weeks. And I found this; an RGB lit mechanical keyboard. This was a huge upgrade compared to membrane switch keyboard previously. The keys give a more satisfying typing feel, which I like. I have had this keyboard for almost a month, and it has been my go to keyboard for everything; from gaming, to productivity. I have typed a few essays with this keyboard and it has performed with flying colours, at least, to my standards.

The keyboard has 9 built in backlighting modes, accessed by pressing Fn+Insert. By pressing Fn+1-8 you can access the different lighting up patterns. Note that this backlit keyboard cannot change colour.  The keyboard has 87 keys, and include multimedia functions. The brightness is changed by pressing Fn+Up/Down Arrow. There are three arrays of brightness. It also features anti-ghosting on all the keys, so when typing multiple keys at the same time, it won’t be affected. There isn’t much else to be said about this keyboard. There are two feet on either side, that can be raised to make for more ergonomic typing.

The keyboard is heavy, weighing at 1kg, which is a good thing, since it makes the keyboard have a premium feel. If you are just coming into the mechanical keyboard market, then this keyboard is for you. It has a metal back plate, which also adds to the premium feel of the keyboard. The keys have the classic ‘floating keys’ look which personally, I really like.
The keys are removable, and come with what GranVela calls blue switches, which feel very similar to Cherry MX Blue switches but are around 1/3 of the price.

In the box, you will find the keyboard, 5 replacement switches, and a key remover.

Here is a typing test, and a view of all of the modes:

This keyboard shouldn’t go out of stock anytime soon. It is gaining popularity, which I guess is a good thing. The GranVela Z-77 can be bought for£ 36 or $40. You can purchase this keyboard here:

Final Verdict

My final opinion on this? Many say it’s the best entry mechanical keyboard under £40, and I would have to agree on that. Apart from the single non-changeable colours, I honestly have no complaints.
